Pentagon Unveils Massive Migrant Detention Center Plan
Liberty Check
The Department of Defense is constructing the country’s largest migrant detention center at Fort Bliss, Texas, aiming for up to 5,000 beds. This project supports recent executive orders prioritizing border security and the enforcement of immigration laws.
“Since then, work has begun for initial detainment capacity of 1,000 illegal aliens with initial operating capacity likely to be achieved by mid to late August,” Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson stated. “Once DOD achieves initial stand up, we will finish construction for up to 5,000 beds in the weeks and months ahead.”
- This will be the largest federal migrant detention facility in U.S. history.
- Indiana and Florida are also expanding detention efforts, with new centers being built to follow a similar model.
- Federal and state governments are partnering to combat illegal immigration and uphold national sovereignty.
State Initiatives and Federal Partnerships
Indiana’s “Speedway Slammer” will open at Miami Correctional Center to hold 1,000 migrants, part of a coordinated response to rising border concerns.
Governor Mike Braun emphasized Indiana’s leadership in supporting administration efforts, saying, “Indiana is taking a comprehensive and collaborative approach to combating illegal immigration and will continue to lead the way among states.”
Funding stems from a recent reconciliation bill signed by President Trump, which bolsters ICE operations and expands detention capacity nationwide.
Florida’s Approach to Enforcement
Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” center in Ochopee was converted from an old airport and is already operating, with deportation flights under the oversight of both state and federal officials.
DHS offers a $1,000 incentive and free travel for voluntary self-deportation, reinforcing the push for legal immigration pathways and order at the border.
Efforts are expanding despite criticism from activist groups, reflecting a focus on national security, limited government, and upholding the law.
