Chicago Suburb Embraces Little Palestine in Cultural Milestone
Liberty Check
- Illinois officials have officially designated a large stretch of Bridgeview as Little Palestine.
- The move follows state and county resolutions pushed by Democratic lawmakers.
- Supporters say the designation could encourage business and cultural projects in the area.
Bridgeview, Illinois, unveiled a new street sign on Tuesday marking a large section of the city as Little Palestine.
The area spanning 79th Street to 113th Street contains one of the nation’s largest Palestinian-American populations.
Local business owners celebrated the designation while emphasizing its importance to their cultural identity.
This move codifies an ethnic enclave through formal government action rather than organic community growth.
The designation stems from two legislative resolutions, including HJR0046, which passed the Illinois House with a 76 to 33 vote.
Democratic State Rep. Lisa Davis was an instrumental advocate for the measure.
“It’s an honor and a responsibility at the same time,” said Muhammad Baste, a local restaurant owner.
The timing of the unveiling coincided with Arab American Heritage Month.
Critics often argue that such state-sponsored ethnic designations contribute to cultural balkanization rather than American unity.
The Constitution must be defended.

The people of Bridgeview WILL live to regret this.
