Elderly Owner Injured in San Jose Smash-And-Grab

Liberty Check

An 88-year-old jewelry shop owner was hospitalized after a violent smash-and-grab robbery at his San Jose store. A group of masked suspects rammed an SUV through the storefront and stole merchandise in broad daylight, highlighting growing lawlessness and threats to small business owners.

  • A dozen masked criminals raided Kim Hung Jewelry in the middle of the afternoon, injuring the elderly owner and menacing employees.
  • Surveillance footage shows the owner being shoved to the ground and an employee threatened with a firearm as the thieves ransacked the cases.
  • Despite the brazen attack, suspects escaped before police arrived and remain unidentified.

San Jose City Councilmember Bien Doan called for change, asking citizens to consider, “If this was your family member, if this was your business that you spent your whole lifetime to build up, and then within one hour you’re out of business.”

The shop owner sustained a stroke and injuries from broken glass, but has since stabilized and been released from the hospital.

Such incidents underscore the necessity for stronger protection of property rights and holding criminals accountable while local leadership must return to prioritizing public safety, not excuse soft-on-crime policies.

Americans deserve communities where law-abiding citizens are secure and hard work is respected, not swept aside by unchecked crime.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
