Brittney Hopper, who worked for CBS News Los Angeles until 2022, revealed that she was pulled off the air after simply asking questions about Fauci’s contradictory guidance.

Hopper appeared on News24 in Australia to discuss Fauci’s recent congressional hearing, where the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director invoked his Fifth Amendment right more than 100 times. He refused to answer basic questions about his pandemic response.

But before reacting to that hearing, the now-independent journalist shared her own troubling experience reporting on Fauci while working for a major news network.

“I have so much to say because this was during the time when I was on CBS News. I was reporting extensively on COVID. I was out there on the front lines. And I remember after a couple of years of dealing with hearing this man and interviewing this man and having to wear masks and having our kids out of school for years, I remember questioning what he was doing. And I got in trouble and pulled off air for a couple of days because I started questioning him.”

“You weren’t supposed to question the agenda and the narrative at that point. And I apologized, and I went back on air covering what I was supposed to do as I’ve mentioned before on here. I was their puppet on mainstream media for so many years. Hopefully, more and more people are waking up to, you know, really, the lack of journalistic integrity that we’re seeing.”

Her allegations paint a disturbing picture of how the media operated during the pandemic—not as watchdogs holding power accountable, but as enforcers of a predetermined narrative. Anyone who stepped out of line faced immediate consequences.

Hopper said she wasn’t shocked by Fauci’s refusal to answer questions during his congressional hearing. But she expressed hope that his behavior might finally wake people up to the reality of how little accountability existed during the pandemic response.

“I hope that this is somewhat of a wake-up call for news organizations around the world. The six feet apart thing that he made up, wearing masks outside with not a single soul around us, you know, there were so many questions that were left unanswered and … let me give him the benefit of the doubt.”

“That first year, many of us — we had no idea what was going on, but then when we started to learn more and more and started to really use journalistic integrity, which maybe that’s just been thrown out the window … news agencies jumped on the bandwagon with him and just feared so many Americans.”

The former journalist’s revelations come at a critical time. Fauci is now facing renewed scrutiny after excerpts from his private diary revealed comments that directly contradicted his public statements about lockdowns and other pandemic policies.

Despite repeatedly claiming in 2022 that he did not endorse COVID lockdowns, Fauci’s own diary entries from 2020 show he recommended lockdowns to city, state, and federal officials, including President Donald Trump. The man who became the face of America’s pandemic response has been caught in a web of his own contradictions.

When reached for comment, CBS News did not dispute Hopper’s account of being pulled off the air for questioning Fauci. The silence speaks volumes about how major media outlets operated during one of the most consequential periods in American history.

The story of what happened to Hopper represents just one example of the broader suppression of legitimate questions and concerns during the pandemic. How many other journalists faced similar pressure? How many stories were killed before they ever reached the public?

Americans were told to trust the science and follow the experts. But what they got was a carefully curated narrative that punished dissent and rewarded compliance. The six-foot distancing rule that Fauci admits was arbitrary. The outdoor mask mandates that made no scientific sense. The school closures that devastated children’s education and mental health.

All of these policies were implemented with the full-throated support of media organizations that abandoned their responsibility to ask hard questions. Instead, they became cheerleaders for government overreach and enforcers of orthodoxy.

Now, as the truth continues to emerge about how pandemic policies were formulated and enforced, the American people deserve answers. They deserve to know why journalists like Hopper were silenced for doing their jobs. They deserve to know why Fauci is now taking the Fifth instead of defending his actions.

Most importantly, they deserve accountability from both the government officials who wielded unprecedented power over American lives and the media institutions that enabled them every step of the way.

The Constitution must be defended.
