Voters in Los Angeles County have rejected progressive criminal justice policies by electing Nathan Hochman to replace George Gascón as district attorney.

Many citizens pointed to surging crime and lenient prosecution as key concerns that demanded a change in leadership.

  • Nathan Hochman, a former federal prosecutor, won the district attorney race, defeating incumbent George Gascón.
  • Hochman rejected both harsh incarceration and what he described as the “public safety failure” of Gascón’s approach.
  • The prosecutors’ union called Hochman’s election a critical step for restoring accountability in the justice system.

“The voters of Los Angeles County have spoken and have said enough is enough of D.A. Gascón’s pro-criminal extreme policies; they look forward to a safer future,” said Hochman in a statement. “As D.A., I look forward to representing all of the people, whether they voted for me or not, since their safety will be my responsibility.”

Throughout his campaign, Hochman centered public safety and the rule of law, highlighting updated FBI statistics showing violent crime rising by 4.5%.

He received the endorsement of law enforcement groups and emphasized his past experience as assistant U.S. attorney and private defender.

Gascón faced two prior recall attempts and a lawsuit from the prosecutors’ union over transparency, reflecting deep dissatisfaction with his policies.

This race stands as a clear message against progressive justice experiments and for a renewed focus on constitutional law and public order.

The status quo is shifting in favor of those who respect the limits of government and uphold victims’ rights.

Now, Hochman pledges to serve all residents and refocus the district attorney’s office on its constitutional duty: keeping the community safe.

The Constitution must be defended.
