An act of evil shattered a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney as 87-year-old Holocaust survivor Alex Kleytman was fatally shot while protecting his wife. The shooting, perpetrated by a father and son, left 15 dead and over 40 injured, with witnesses reporting a black flag displayed by the attackers before they opened fire.

Kleytman, originally from Ukraine, survived the Holocaust only to lose his life decades later defending his loved ones. He had immigrated to Australia in search of peace, working as a civil engineer and building a family with his wife Larisa, two children, and 11 grandchildren.
