Minneapolis Church Attack Raises Urgent Questions

Liberty Check

  • Two children were killed in a Minneapolis church by a trans-identifying shooter.
  • Staff acted bravely to shield students, limiting further harm.
  • The FBI is investigating the attack as terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics.

Authorities have identified the attacker as Robin Westman, a 23-year-old who previously went by Robert before identifying as a woman. Westman targeted Annunciation Catholic School’s church during morning mass, entering from outside and firing through its windows.

The church and school released a statement mourning the loss of two students, ages 8 and 10, and confirming multiple others injured.

“We are navigating an impossible situation together at this time,” the letter said. “No words can capture what we have gone through, what we are going through, and what we will go through in the coming days and weeks. But we will navigate this – together.”

School principal Matthew DeBoer and Father Dennis Zehren described staff as “heroic” for protecting students under pews while danger persisted.

Seventeen additional children and parishioners were wounded before Westman took his own life. All staff members were accounted for and physically unharmed.

Westman’s mother was employed at the school, though her role remains unclear.

Evidence collected from Westman included antisemitic and hateful writings targeting Catholics and Jews.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated the agency is treating the shooting as both terrorism and a hate crime against Catholics.

This tragedy underscores the urgent need to defend religious liberty and societal order in the face of targeted violence. Communities must stand together, demand accountability, and ensure government upholds every American’s right to safety and worship free from violence.

The Constitution must be defended.
