Newsom’s ICE Claims Contradicted By Facts
Liberty Check
- Newsom faces criticism for labeling ICE actions as “state-sponsored terrorism” after a high-profile incident in Minneapolis.
- Over 52% of all ICE criminal detainers were lodged in California, more than quadruple the number in the next highest state.
- Sanctuary city laws restrict local law enforcement from fully assisting ICE, resulting in released violent offenders and increased public risk.
California Governor Gavin Newsom insists his state
“cooperates”
with federal immigration enforcement, despite a history of sanctuary policies and anti-ICE sentiment.
His comments to Ben Shapiro face sharp scrutiny as state data suggests a very different approach to ICE detainers and the handling of illegal alien felons.
Newsom argued that California works closely with ICE regarding state prison releases, stating
“California has cooperated with more ICE transfers than probably any other state in the country.”
However, statistics show over 13,000 ICE detainers in California in recent years, as well as dozens of illegals charged with homicide released back into communities.
Conservatives must stay alert to misleading narratives that downplay the reality of California’s sanctuary state consequences.
Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
