Virginia Democrats’ Power Grab Crushed After Supreme Court Delivers Devastating Blow

- Virginia Supreme Court previously struck down Democrat gerrymander scheme designed to redraw congressional maps

The U.S. Supreme Court has dealt a crushing defeat to Virginia Democrats who attempted to resurrect a brazen gerrymander scheme aimed at rigging the state’s congressional map in their favor.
After the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the partisan redistricting plan, desperate Democrats appealed to the nation’s highest court, asking justices to intervene and overturn the state ruling. The Supreme Court rejected their request, leaving the lower court’s decision intact.
The scheme would have fundamentally redrawn Virginia’s congressional districts to benefit Democrat candidates, a transparent power grab that state justices recognized as unconstitutional manipulation of electoral boundaries. Virginia Democrats sought to bypass the state court’s ruling by elevating the case to federal jurisdiction.
This represents yet another example of the left’s willingness to manipulate the democratic process when they can’t win on the merits of their policies. Gerrymandering has long been used by both parties, but the Virginia Democrat plan was particularly egregious in its partisan design.
The Supreme Court’s decision to stay out of the dispute upholds the Virginia Supreme Court’s authority and sends a clear message that federal courts won’t automatically bail out state Democrats when their overreach gets checked by state judiciaries.
Constitutional conservatives have long argued that electoral integrity depends on fair district boundaries that reflect communities rather than partisan ambitions. This ruling reinforces that principle.
The Constitution must be defended.
