The body of Itay Chen, the final American hostage held by Hamas, was returned to Israel on Tuesday night.

Chen, an Israeli-American who served in the Israel Defense Forces, was abducted during Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack and officially identified on Wednesday.

Chen was born in the United States and lived in Israel. His father, Ruby Chen, has advocated for Gaza hostages since his son’s capture, including speaking at the United Nations.

American families deserve transparency and action when U.S. citizens are targeted abroad. Stand strong for those who refuse to forget or remain silent.

Americans deserve better.
