Costco is stepping up its game by introducing new shopping hours exclusively for its U.S. executive members, a move that underscores the benefits of investing in a premium membership. Starting this week, those who opt for the $130-a-year executive membership can enjoy early access to Costco’s vast selection of goods from 9 to 10 a.m. on weekdays and Sundays, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays. This gives them a head start before the general Gold Star or business members flood in.
This strategic move is a win for those who value efficiency and exclusivity, allowing executive members to shop with less crowd and more convenience. It’s a savvy way for Costco to reward its most loyal customers while encouraging others to consider upgrading their memberships.
In addition to the early shopping hours, Costco is making sure its executive members have access to its food courts, optical centers, and other departments during these exclusive times. However, pharmacies will remain closed on Sundays.

Earlier this year, the company extended the hours for its North American gas stations, a decision that has already paid off with record-breaking fuel sales. Costco is a private company and can set its hours as it pleases.

I like to get my shopping done early in the day before the traffic and crowds get to be too much. That being said, I also have no desire to pay extra for the “privilege” of doing so. Many shops open at 7:00 A.M. which makes for a very relaxed shopping experience, no long checkout lines or inconsiderate shoppers. Easy in and easy out. I really doubt that I will renew our CostCo membership when that time comes around again. It’s not because I don’t like shopping CC or feel that the membership has value, but the crowded and frequently inconsiderate shoppers encountered just makes for a bad experience. Did I mention that I will not pay more just to be able shop at a slightly earlier time!

I don’t shop Costco very often because they open at 10am and I like to shop early. Sam’s open at 8 am. Works so much better for me.
