The Manchester synagogue attack, perpetrated by Jihad Al-Shamie—a man previously on police bail for rape and influenced by extremist ideology—exposed the dangerous consequences of ignoring these persistent warnings.
Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis called the incident
“an urgent need for national soul-searching”
and highlighted a surge in anti-Jewish sentiment since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, that has fueled hostility and normalized hatred across Britain.
This wave of hostility has left British Jews feeling unsafe and unprotected. Calls for constitutional freedoms and equal treatment under the law are being ignored by officials who continue to tolerate discrimination.
