Kennedy Calls Out Billions Sent to Dead Americans

Liberty Check

Sen. John Kennedy is pushing for accountability in Washington after the “Ending Improper Payments to Deceased People Act” was signed into law. The reform is designed to prevent taxpayer dollars from being wasted and to end absurd government mismanagement.

By giving the Social Security Administration new authority to share its Death Master File with the Treasury’s Do Not Pay system, the law aims to safeguard public funds. This step addresses an Inspector General report showing 6.5 million so-called “living” individuals over 112 years old.

  • The act enables agencies to verify identities and block fraudulent payments to the deceased.
  • The Treasury can now cross-check death records with other federal data sources, closing loopholes for scammers.
  • Projected government savings: about $330 million from 2024 to 2026.

Sen. Kennedy condemned longstanding waste, saying,

“The idea that we send billions of dollars to dead people and they get cashed.…

Using dead Americans to rip off taxpayers is as low as it gets. Many Americans have seen these scams play out across the country and are tired of watching these fraudsters game the system—so am I. That’s why I wrote this common-sense bill to end this outrageous abuse permanently, and I’m grateful President Trump signed it into law so we can ensure taxpayer dollars go to living Americans who actually need our help.”

He added,

“This place is…uhhh…some days it’s like the game room of a mental hospital up here.”

Kennedy also remarked,

“There are a lot of intelligent people in Washington, but I call them high IQ stupid people.”

This legislation stands as a reminder that government bloat must be tackled and taxpayer rights defended at every turn.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
