Do You Believe Kamala is Politicizing Hurricane Response for Personal Gain?
Do You Believe Kamala is Politicizing Hurricane Response for Personal Gain?
Here’s The Scoop
In the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a firm stance, calling out Vice President Kamala Harris for what he sees as an attempt to play political games during a time of crisis. Critics argue that Harris is using these natural disasters to further her political agenda, rather than prioritizing the urgent needs of those affected in Florida.
An NBC News report claimed DeSantis was ignoring calls from the Vice President, suggesting a political motive behind his actions. Harris then accused the Florida governor of “playing political games,” a characterization DeSantis swiftly rebutted. DeSantis, who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to his state’s well-being, emphasized during a press conference that he never received any communication from Harris and condemned the accusation as baseless.
DeSantis has a history of putting Florida first, having capably managed hurricane responses under both the Trump and Biden administrations. His approach has been centered on action and results, particularly when lives and property are at stake. The suggestion that he would delay response efforts for political reasons is, in his words, “delusional.”
The governor underscored that his dealings with both Presidents Trump and Biden were smooth and cooperative, highlighting a bipartisan spirit essential in times of disaster management. However, he pointed out that Harris’s involvement appears unprecedented and politically motivated, having not engaged in previous storms during her tenure.
In a vivid repudiation of Harris’s actions, DeSantis questioned why she has attempted to step into a space traditionally outside her responsibilities, especially when Florida is in the midst of a critical response operation. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on the immediate needs of Floridians, not the alleged distractions of political posturing.
The Florida governor made it clear that the focus should remain on the well-being of the state’s residents, not on political narratives. He expressed appreciation for the support received from President Biden’s administration, while firmly maintaining that the Vice President’s role in the situation is unnecessary and politically charged.
As DeSantis continues to prioritize the safety and recovery of Floridians, many see his response as a testament to strong leadership, clear-eyed pragmatism, and dedication to public service—a lesson in putting constituents before politics.

Seems like I heard Trump using the disasters for political gain stating that funds were being diverted from FEMA (which he did while in office) for illegals and that phone calls from Biden were ignored. I guess people in this country are either hypocritical or their memories are REALLY bad!

or both! I’ve seen so many people saying FEMA did nothing for Helene, and that is patently false! Quit politicizing disasters and support the government efforts to help people, unlike the republicans in congress who voted NO on more aid for disaster relief!!

MS. Harris is a personification of the 1980’s theory of promotion called the “Peter Principal”. If you will remember, that theory said a person would be promoted in their employment to a position at which they we unable to correctly manage.

DeSantis has always stood for Floridians in every action taken regardless of federal actions. Harris on the other hand only seems to be concerned when it benefits her campaign.

Trump has been a one-man gang in dispensing false information about what is and what’s not happening with regards to the hurricane devastation. Republican governors from all damaged states including Georgia’s Brian Kemp and NC’s Roy Cooper have rebuked Trump’s selfish self-serving actions and have praised both FEMA’s and Biden’s prompt support. BTW, it was Trump you used FEMA funds to support his border wall.

Of course she is, in a backhanded (one might say “Democrat-like”) way. Accusing DeSantis of playing politics by not accepting her calls is ridiculous. He may play the game with many of his actions but NOT when it comes to things that cost the lives of Floridians – there he don’t play!
