Do You Support a Gas Stove Ban?
Do You Support a Gas Stove Ban?
Here’s The Scoop
In a bold move that underscores the growing dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party, former California Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero has officially switched her party affiliation to Republican. Romero’s decision comes in response to the Democrats’ latest overreach: a crackdown on gas stoves.
Romero, who has served as a prominent figure within the Democratic Party, expressed her frustration with the party’s direction, particularly its stance on energy policies.
“I for example think we are going to solve nothing by banning gas stoves,” Romero stated. “As a Latina, I will not give up my gas stove because you cannot toast a tortilla on an electric range. That is just bad news, another reason to leave the Democratic Party.”
This sentiment resonates deeply with many Americans who feel the Democrats have lost touch with practical, everyday concerns. Romero’s departure highlights a significant shift among key voter demographics, including Latinos, who are increasingly disillusioned with the party’s extreme policies.
Romero’s announcement follows the Department of Energy’s (DOE) plan to implement a new “energy conservation standard” for gas stoves and electric cooking equipment. This move has sparked widespread criticism, with many viewing it as yet another example of government overreach under the Biden administration.
“In this Capitol behind me, I served as both Senate Democratic Caucus chair and the Senate Majority Leader,” Romero said. “Today, I say goodbye, adios, I’ve had enough. I am now another near-lifelong Democrat who is joining the growing number of people, including key groups like Latinos, who are leaving the Democratic Party. This is not the Democratic Party I once championed, I do not recognize it anymore.”
Romero has also announced her intention to vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump in the upcoming election, further signaling her complete break from the Democratic Party. Her decision is a clear indication of the growing dissatisfaction with the Biden administration’s policies, particularly those targeting emissions and climate change.
The Biden administration recently finalized an energy efficiency rule set to take effect in January 2028, which will apply to newly manufactured electric and gas cooktops and ovens. This rule has been met with significant opposition, as it threatens to limit consumer choice and impose unnecessary regulations on everyday Americans.
Earlier this year, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) hinted at a potential nationwide ban on gas stoves, citing a study that claimed gas stoves pose a risk of children developing asthma. This prompted bipartisan backlash, with then-Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz introducing the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act to prevent the CPSC from regulating gas stoves.
Despite the Biden administration’s claims that it is “misinformation” to suggest they want to ban gas stoves, actions speak louder than words. The administration’s continuous push for stringent regulations only fuels the perception that they are out of touch with the needs and desires of everyday Americans.
Romero’s departure from the Democratic Party is a wake-up call for many. It underscores the growing discontent with the party’s direction and highlights the increasing appeal of the Republican Party’s commitment to personal freedom and practical solutions.

Electric resistence (i.e. stove coils) is an inefficient means of converting electricity to heat. Electric stoves vs gas become really stupid when fossil fuels are used to generate the electricity. Consider, burn gas at electrical generating station, wasting a lot of heat. Transmit electricity to the stove, wasting electricity to het the coils. It would have taken less gas to directly burn at the stove, vs the losses in the generation process.

Until we can guarantee reliable electricity to all citizens, we must not eliminate gas stoves. It would cause a hardship to some vwry rural folks. I do support tge idea of banning the use of fossil fuels as much as possible, & I plan on replacing my gas appliances with electric as they wear out.

when I am canning my produce it is better for me to reduce the heat, because elecTric takes too long to cool down.
Also with the cost of electric I would be having a higher Bill, with all the canning that I do I AM NOT A DEMOCRAT AND I DISLIKE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO OUR COUNTRY.

All this nonsense being proposed about eating bugs, no gas anything, no A/C and so on and so forth and the attitude do as I say not as I do…at the next opulent State dinner instead of serving lobster and beef wellington I suggest some nice Japanese beetle soup followed by a crispy salad topped with crispy roaches and a butter basted tarantula FOR THE ENTREE and for dessert an array of the aforementioned topped with whipped creme all prepared on an electric stove. And, if this gourmet dinner is being served in the winter NO heating or, if in the summer no A/C.

Natural Gas/Propane is Clean. I am a cook and like Gas better. I believe gas heats faster and better than electric as it is reliable.

During one winter ice blast that caused electricity failure in many homes, fortunately for my family abs grandchildren, we were able to eat and stay warm due to gas stove and heaters. I do NOT agree with gas ban. People are adults, why can we not be allowed to make our own choices? Electric homes or cars? Gas homes or cars? OUR CHOICE. When things are being FORCED upon people, then freedom is gone and tyranny reigns.
