Do You Support CBS’s Decision to End “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Despite Its Ratings?

Here’s The Scoop

In a move that many conservatives might find unsurprising, CBS has announced that “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” will be coming to an end in 2026. This decision marks the conclusion of a show that has been a staple of liberal commentary since Colbert took the helm in 2015.

CBS announced, “‘THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT’ will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season.” The network claims Colbert is “irreplaceable” and plans to retire the franchise entirely. While the network heaps praise on Colbert, many conservatives remember the show as a platform that leaned heavily into leftist politics, particularly during the Trump era.

Colbert himself seemed taken aback by the news, revealing to his audience, “I found out just last night, next year will be our last season.” He added, “It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of the late show on CBS. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”

CBS insists the decision was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,” and not related to the show’s content or performance. However, it’s worth noting that Colbert’s show became a major platform for Democratic politicians, often showcasing liberal viewpoints and candidates, such as New York City mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani.

This announcement comes amid speculation about the future of Paramount-owned late-night programs, like “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, especially with a planned corporate merger with Skydance Media on the horizon. For many on the right, the end of Colbert’s show might signal a shift in the late-night landscape, potentially opening the door for more balanced perspectives in the future.

If only we could also get rid of Oliver, Stewart, & Kimmel, the rest of the LLC (Liberal Losers Club).
