Americans are divided over whether President Biden should give in to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s demand for $20 billion a year for Latin American countries in exchange for help combating the illegal immigration crisis. Many fear that complying with a foreign nation’s ultimatum would make the U.S. look weak.
Some argue that the U.S. should not pay Mexico’s demands, as it would be like submitting to them. Others believe that the U.S. and Mexico need to work together to solve the immigration crisis, and that spending money on this issue would benefit both countries.
Obrador has called on the U.S. to send $20 billion a year to Latin American countries, lift sanctions on Venezuela, end the Cuban embargo, and legalize millions of Hispanics who have worked and lived in the U.S. for at least a decade. Mexican officials claim that complying would help the U.S. show it wanted to address the root causes of migration.
Some Americans believe that the U.S. can control the immigration crisis themselves, without giving in to Mexico’s demands. However, others question whether Biden will stand firm against Mexican pressure.
The U.S. has faced an ongoing migrant surge at the southern border under Biden’s watch, with a record 2.4 million migrant encounters in fiscal year 2023. In December, migrant encounters hit a record 302,000 for the month.
Some argue that the U.S. should not help Mexico at all, as it would make the country look weak. Others believe that the U.S. needs to get tougher on illegal immigration and enforce proper border crossing procedures.
However, some Americans think that Biden should comply with Mexico’s demands to address the escalating border crisis, as the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous and unsustainable.

Obrador needs to pound sand,he doesn’t tell america, how to run anything,including the border.He is to blame fpr alot of this migration, because they have to come through mexico to get to the US.Change is coming soon.He is scared of the cartels,or he is working with them,like hidenbiden has been doing.Shipping them in by air from all over the world,no vetting,just come on in,Time to arrest the people failling to do their the job,the government,

There’s no limit. We give them the money they’re demanding and they’ll be back for more. Don’t give in to them. Call the Mexican “leadership” what they seem to be… a cartel that makes demands to our weak POTUS. NO! We shouldn’t bow down to them nor should we bend to their demands. No more U.S. money for Mexico. Put an end to this strong arm attempt of weaning yet another billion dollars to a neighbor country who seems to hate us but, wants our money. END IT! NOW! IMHO

How ’bout we round up all the illegals, ship ’em back where they came from, and charge Mexico $20 billion to cover it? While we’re at it, we can charge Mexico for the $60 billion A YEAR that gets stolen from the American economy by “migrants” who send it back to their families in their own countries.
