DOJ Probes BLM Groups Over Donor Fund Misuse

Liberty Check

  • The BLM Global Network Foundation was reported to have used $6 million in donor funds to purchase a California mansion in late 2020.
  • By May 2022, the group disclosed $42 million in assets, less than half of its total funds raised during the 2020 surge.
  • Riots tied to the movement in 2020 caused over $1 billion in property damage and resulted in at least two dozen deaths nationwide.

The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into how organizations linked to the Black Lives Matter movement handled $90 million in donations received during the unrest of 2020. Federal officials are examining the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation and affiliated groups for potential misuse of funds.

Anonymous sources indicate the investigation is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California with warrants and subpoenas already issued. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and federal agencies have not yet released further comments. Stay alert to how charitable donations are administered and demand transparency in all organizations claiming to represent justice and reform.
