Elderly Arrest Raises Questions About California Parole Policies
Authorities in Sacramento County arrested 75-year-old Larry Candies on multiple counts of child molestation. The case has renewed scrutiny of California’s parole and public-safety policies.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sgt. Edward Igoe said the arrest shows that age does not eliminate danger.
“No matter how many centuries you are sentenced to, they’re going to offer you the opportunity of parole,” Igoe stated.
“Here’s a perfect example of someone that’s 75 years old and still actively molesting, taking advantage of young victims, ruining not only their childhood, but their entire life as well as the lives of their family members,” he added.
Liberty Check
- California’s parole rules continue to draw criticism from those who say public safety should come first.
- The arrest has reignited debate over whether older offenders should be treated differently under the law.
- Supporters of tougher oversight argue that the justice system must better protect victims and communities.
The case has prompted fresh calls for accountability in California’s criminal justice system. Critics say lawmakers should put victims and public safety ahead of lenient release policies.
Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.

It happens all over the nation. A “Life Sentence” doesn’t exactly mean a WHOLE LIFETIME! It seems that a criminal found guilty and given 5 life sentences meant to be served one after the other can still be offered parole at some point! That’s ridiculous!
