Is Biden’s Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal the ‘Most Embarrassing Moment’ in US History?

Here’s The Scoop

Former President Donald Trump gave a scathing critique of the Biden-Harris administration on Monday, accusing them of “gross incompetence” over their “botched” withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump’s remarks coincided with the third anniversary of the tragic ISIS bombing at the Abbey Gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on August 26, 2021, which claimed the lives of 13 American soldiers and 170 Afghan civilians.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump didn’t mince words, declaring, “This is the third anniversary of the BOTCHED Afghanistan withdrawal, the most EMBARRASSING moment in the history of our Country. Gross Incompetence — 13 DEAD American soldiers, hundreds of people wounded and dead, AMERICANS and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT LEFT BEHIND.”

Trump emphasized the strategic blunder, adding, “You don’t take our soldiers out first, you take them out LAST, when all else is successfully done. Russia then invaded Ukraine, Israel was attacked, and the USA became, and is, a laughing stock all over the World.”

Let’s remember the heroic soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice: Marines Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Cpl. Daegan W. Page, Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, Navy Petty Officer Third Class Maxton W. Soviak, and Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss.

President Biden also released a statement commemorating the fallen soldiers, calling them “patriots in the highest sense.” He praised their bravery and dedication to serving a cause greater than themselves.

“They embodied the very best of who we are as a nation: brave, committed, selfless,” Biden said. “And we owe them and their families a sacred debt we will never be able to fully repay, but will never cease working to fulfill.”

Amid this solemn remembrance, it’s critical to recall Biden’s contentious statement from a June debate with Trump, in which he falsely claimed that no American troops had died under his watch.

“Truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this, this decade — that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world,” Biden asserted, drawing ire and fact-checks across the board.

As we reflect on this anniversary, it’s crucial that we hold our leaders accountable for their actions and honor the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women. The American people deserve leadership that prioritizes competence and respects the lives of those who serve.

Actually, the most embarrasing was the way we pulled out of Vietnam. But, this was very similar.

Joan I agree with you Vietnam vets were treated horribly. The exit from Afganistan was horrible we left millions I equipment and lost millions. Made us look really bad to the world. This is Not the country I grew up in. We had respect for veterans, our flag, our country and people. What a shame that our country is. Joke to the rest of the world. I have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren I am very unhappy at the country I will leave them. Please bring back the Greatest Generation Country.

    Joan –
I agree with you. Our withdrawl from Vietnam was disgusting. I’m a Vietnam vet, and I’ve had it with politicians who say one thing and do another.

Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was pretty bad, very poorly planned and not executed well. I’m sure that Biden (not being of sound mind) thought it was great.

I’m very disappointed in our Executive Branch and their inability to accomplish what they set out to do!

That was Milley’s idea to leave the military hardware behind, Trump told him to stick it, while Biden actually did it. Not only that, but they also gave up Bagram airfield to the enemy, really stupid. Could not even imagine Harris being the commander in chief.

I honestly don’t know how the parents of those 13 heroes deal with the fact their children were murdered because of the incompetence of the Biden/Harris administration. And to know that they were advised otherwise, but Joe wanted the optics for his legacy is disgusting. Now we get to see the Taliban have their parades with our tax funded military equipment. Biden/Harris never say the names of those killed, disrespect their loved ones, and act like the catastrophe never happened. But, Harris says she is “proud” of their decisions!
