An internal memo from 24 Hour Fitness has stirred up controversy by establishing a policy that allows the display of Black Lives Matter and Pride symbols in its facilities while restricting the display of the American flag to federal holidays.
The memo, obtained by Libs Of TikTok, claims to support “creating a more inclusive environment” and invites employees to express their support for particular movements, but only permits patriotic symbols on specific days like Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the Fourth of July.
The timing of this memo is notable as Americans are currently being inundated with corporate campaigns promoting LGBTQ Pride month. The directive sharply contrasts with the stance towards the American flag, raising questions on the company’s criteria for inclusivity and freedom of expression.
This revelation comes on the heels of a turbulent period for corporations embroiled in cultural controversies.
Target, for example, recently faced severe backlash for its prominent display of Pride merchandise last year, including “tuck-friendly” female swimsuits, which led to boycotts and a significant drop in sales and stock prices. Despite scaling back its LGBTQ-themed offerings this year, Target maintains its commitment to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
The ongoing debate about corporate America’s role in social issues is intensifying. Many conservatives argue that such policies and promotions alienate a significant portion of the customer base and compromise the principle of genuine inclusivity.

Inclusivity should NOT mean excluding the USA flag. Another business becomes woke. Remember even the white house flew the pride flag between 2 American flags and at the same level. That was two strikes out wrt flag policy.

If you bothered to read the statement by 24 hour fitness, they are not banning the flag from FLYING, but not allowing people to wear American flag, t-shirts, shorts, or whatever. This is a corporation, which I seem to recall all you flag waving conservatives seem to think they have every right to do what they want. Freedom for all. And a corporation is a citizen, according to the supreme court.

I am a supporter of inclusion and celebrations of differences as long as one group is not harming another.
People forget the it its because of our United States and its people who have fought for the right to be “out of the closet “ that any celebration is permitted to occur.
Many other countries have banned public displays and have killed those who do not agree with the status quo.
Respect the freedoms of the USA and fly the American flag above all others. Be thankful and demonstrate gratitude.

Fitness centers are private property. They can fly any flag they want. I won’t patronize any business that doesn’t respect the American flag!
