Knicks Star’s Bold Move Before Trump Arrives Has Left Fans Stunned

Liberty Check

  • Knicks center Mitchell Robinson publicly confirms he’s fired up to play in front of President Trump at Monday’s NBA Finals game
  • Robinson’s unfiltered patriotic response stands in stark contrast to the typical leftist virtue-signaling common in professional sports
  • Trump’s appearance at Madison Square Garden highlights the cultural divide between America-first athletes and woke sports media

President Donald Trump tends to divide the room — especially in a league where woke politics have infected nearly every locker room. That will be the case when he rolls into Madison Square Garden on Monday for Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks.

But there’s at least one player who isn’t cowering to the mob. Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is fired up about the prospect of playing in front of the commander in chief.

A TikTok video started making the rounds, joking that Robinson would be playing extra hard with Trump in attendance. It turns out that’s exactly what Robinson — a 2018 second-round pick out of Western Kentucky who has spent his entire career with the Knicks — has planned.

Robinson commented on the viral video and basically confirmed it was spot-on.

“Man, flag emoji and everything.”

He is fired up. And why shouldn’t he be?

You’re already playing on the biggest stage the NBA has to offer for one of the most popular franchises in the league in one of the most talked-about Finals matchups in years. As if that isn’t enough to garner some attention, let’s add the President of the United States to the equation.

There’s a correct response in this situation, and it’s to be fired up like Robinson is. What you don’t want is a player who gets nervous with all of this attention or goes full LeBron and tries to score political brownie points by criticizing the president instead of focusing on the game.

Robinson’s response is refreshing in an era where athletes are expected to bow to leftist groupthink. He’s not apologizing for his patriotism, and he’s not concerned about what the woke sports media will say about him.

As for how Trump will be received by the fans at MSG, well, that’s anybody’s guess. New York is a complex city with passionate fans on both sides of the political aisle.

But one thing is certain: Mitchell Robinson will be giving it everything he’s got.

Americans deserve better than athletes who trash the country that made them millionaires.
