Should Government Officials Like Dr. Fauci Have Permanent Security Details at Taxpayer Expense?
Here’s The Scoop
In a decisive move that aligns with his commitment to fiscal responsibility and accountability, President Donald Trump has confirmed the termination of taxpayer-funded security for Dr. Anthony Fauci. This decision comes as no surprise to those who have watched Fauci’s controversial role during the COVID-19 pandemic unfold.
Back in 2020, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) had requested security for Fauci due to threats he received while serving as the face of the government’s pandemic response. However, that protection was officially pulled on Thursday night, as first reported by CNN.
While visiting Asheville, North Carolina, to assess the damage from Hurricane Helene, Trump addressed the decision, highlighting a common-sense approach to government spending. “When you work for the government, at some point your security detail comes off,” Trump stated. “You can’t have them forever.”
This move is consistent with Trump’s previous actions to revoke security clearances and details for other former officials, such as John Bolton and Mike Pompeo, who no longer serve in government roles. Trump has also been vocal about holding accountable the 51 intelligence officials who wrongly labeled Hunter Biden’s laptop as a Russian operation.
When questioned about potential responsibility if anything were to happen to Fauci or Bolton, Trump was clear: “No. They all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security.” He even offered to recommend some reputable security firms.
It’s worth noting that former President Joe Biden preemptively pardoned Fauci, a move seen by many as an attempt to shield him from accountability. Although Trump initially followed Fauci’s guidance during the early days of the pandemic, he later criticized Fauci as public dissatisfaction with the government’s response grew.
Fauci, who served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for decades and as chief medical advisor to the president, was awarded commendations by Trump in 2021 for his role in Operation Warp Speed. However, as the dust settles on the pandemic, the focus shifts to ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and that former officials are held to the same standards as everyday Americans.

Our out of reality federal system is costing average Joe taxpayer a fortune. Hopefully
the new officials in DOGE will correct this. Work with an over inflated salary and retire
or leave at taxpayer expense—our system is so good to so many.

Security should end when they leave office and the detail should be small. While in office the detail should be a max of 1 man 24-7.

He was a powerful person. He was director of the NIHD and sent NIH money to help fund the lab in Wuhan China. He knew where the covid19 virus orginated. He tried to cover his butt. That is exactly why Biden has pardoned him. He was working with the Chinese. How much more of this is going on. He should not have a security detail. He should be in jail. How many more people in our government are working with the Chinesse to develope means to kill their enemies. China is our enemy. The research lab that Fauci was helping fund was in China. The Chinese government know exacatly what was going on. What does that say about Fauci.

I’m important. Where’s my security detail. I mean if you’re protecting everyone why not me. Just piss more tax dollars away for nothing

Absolutely NOT! Fauci is no longer employed by the American people, therefore, should not receive any benefits – all security clearances should also be removed. Same with Bolton – no security. they both have more than enough money from the taxpayer to pay for their own security. In addition, I do not think that anyone who is no longer employed by the USA/we the people, should not have their security clearances any longer! NO NEED! That alone will keep us safer and stronger!
