Similar aggressive maneuvers have been observed in the South China Sea, where China’s navy routinely harasses vessels from other nations. In the skies above Ukraine, the Russian air force has also engaged in dangerous actions, such as bringing down an American drone by dumping fuel on it and clipping it mid-flight.

While these actions may seem like mere provocations, they carry the risk of escalating into more serious conflicts. Earlier this year, a Russian warship fired a warning shot at a Norwegian trawler in Norway’s Exclusive Economic Zone, further illustrating the potential for these encounters to spiral out of control.
