Student Visas Revoked Over Lawbreaking and Security Threats

Liberty Check

The State Department revoked more than 6,000 student visas in 2025 due to law violations, overstays, and support for terrorism. The move follows executive orders prioritizing national security and combating antisemitism.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in May that the administration is scrutinizing the visa status of students, especially following campus protests. The Trump administration is committed to enforcing immigration laws and protecting American institutions from individuals who threaten safety and constitutional values.

  • Over 6,000 student visas were revoked for overstays, legal violations, or support for terrorism.
  • About 4,000 revocations involved criminal activity, including assault and DUIs.
  • Between 200 and 300 students lost visas for actions supporting terrorist organizations such as Hamas.

“Every single student visa revoked under the Trump Administration has happened because the individual has either broken the law or expressed support for terrorism while in the United States,” a senior State Department official confirmed.

President Trump’s executive orders have increased vetting of foreign students to ensure the nation’s security. In contrast, some lawmakers argue that the process must uphold due process for everyone involved, emphasizing constitutional protections and liberty.

Defending our borders and upholding the rule of law remains a top priority.

The Constitution must be defended.
