Child Trafficking Crisis Grows in North Carolina
Liberty Check
- Charlotte serves as a prime trafficking hub due to its interstate highways, agricultural labor demand, and rising gang activity.
- Experts warn that nearly half of 2024’s cases involved minors aged 15 or younger, with most children approached through online platforms.
- From 2020 to 2024, minor trafficking in Charlotte jumped 76%, and criminal organizations like the Bloods dominate the underground network.
A new surge in human trafficking cases in North Carolina has sparked urgent concern among families and experts, with children being increasingly targeted. The state now ranks ninth nationwide for human trafficking, facing a crisis driven by criminal networks, highways, and lax oversight.
According to National Human Trafficking Hotline data, North Carolina documented 301 cases and 580 victims in 2024. These crimes include sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and various forms of exploitation.
In 2024 alone, there were 145 reported sex trafficking cases, 73 labor trafficking cases, and 38 involving both.
Parents and communities must stay vigilant, pressure lawmakers to confront soft-on-crime policies, and demand decisive action to protect our children. Limited government must not mean lawless streets and unprotected families.
Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
