  • Senate Democrat refuses to condemn candidate who blamed America for 9/11 terror attacks
  • Democratic nominee also declined to label Boulder attack as antisemitism despite clear evidence
  • Party leadership prioritizes political unity over condemning anti-American rhetoric

A Colorado Democrat is standing by a controversial House nominee despite her refusal to call a terror attack antisemitic and her shocking comments placing blame on the United States for the September 11th attacks.

Senator John Hickenlooper defended Democratic congressional candidate Melat Kiros during an appearance on CNN, dismissing concerns about her anti-American statements.

When pressed about Kiros’ troubling record — including her failure to identify clear antisemitism in the Boulder attack and her suggestion that America bore responsibility for the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 innocent Americans — Hickenlooper offered only a weak defense.

“I believe in a big tent,” Hickenlooper stated, prioritizing party unity over condemning dangerous rhetoric that undermines American values and our national memory of one of the darkest days in our history.

The response reveals a disturbing trend within the Democratic Party: a willingness to tolerate radical voices that blame America first, minimize antisemitism, and rewrite history to fit a far-left narrative. Rather than holding candidates accountable for extreme positions, party leaders are circling the wagons.

Kiros’ comments represent more than just controversial opinions — they signal a dangerous shift in how some Democrats view terrorism, national security, and hatred targeting Jewish Americans. Her refusal to label obvious antisemitism as such raises serious questions about her judgment and values.

For millions of Americans who lived through 9/11, the suggestion that our nation somehow invited or deserved those attacks is deeply offensive and fundamentally wrong. Al-Qaeda terrorists murdered innocent civilians because they hated our freedom, our values, and our way of life — not because of anything America did to provoke such evil.

Hickenlooper’s “big tent” excuse fails to address the real concern: when does tolerance for diverse viewpoints become enabling dangerous extremism? When party leaders refuse to draw clear lines against anti-American sentiment, they send a message that anything goes in pursuit of political power.

Colorado voters deserve candidates who understand the difference between legitimate policy disagreements and revisionist history that dishonors the victims of terrorism. They deserve representatives who can unequivocally condemn antisemitism without hesitation or qualification.

Americans deserve better.
