MSNBC Faces Firestorm Over Kirk Shooting Comments
Liberty Check
MSNBC encountered significant backlash following its coverage of the Utah shooting that killed constitutional conservative Charlie Kirk.
The network’s president, Rebecca Kutler, issued an apology focused on Matthew Dowd’s on-air remarks that many judged as blaming Kirk for his own death.
Statement from MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler: “During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in…

- Dowd implied Kirk contributed to a “culture of political violence,” sparking outrage among Americans demanding accountability.
- Numerous voices insisted a simple apology was inadequate and called for firings, pointing out the network’s double standard and lack of real consequences.
- Critics were angered that MSNBC’s response was limited to its PR account, not its main platform, minimizing public acknowledgment of wrongdoing.
During the same broadcast, anchor Katy Tur also made divisive remarks about Kirk mere minutes after the shooting, deepening public anger over perceived media bias.
Matthew Dowd on MSNBC suggests it’s CHARLIE KIRK’S FAULT HE WAS SHOT:

Americans deserve a media that respects their audience and upholds constitutional values.
The Constitution must be defended.

I may not like some political figures but I would never celebrate their death. The fact that your network has people like Dowd and Tur who think they have a right to do just that. Tells me that your network shouldn’t continue. This type of rhetoric fuels violent behavior.

Best thing to do is boycott MSNBC. How low to have commentator like him. That reflect them.

I wouldn’t watch MSNBC were it the only “show” on TV, so there’s no way I can boycott it now. I already have. They are useless turds who prove daily they are evil turds. It is they who are responsible for Charlies’s death with their hate-filled rhetoric. Amazing, how it’s the left-wing loons who commit the atrocities, the murders, the attempted murders, yet, they scream it is we who are the culprits. No, it is the left-wing, lame-stream media and DEMONrats.

MSNBC shouldn’t even be on the air.
