Liberty Check

  • Investigators matched Cole’s credit card activity to specific components bought for bomb assembly.
  • The FBI claims Cole continued buying relevant materials after January 6, raising questions about his intent.
  • Authorities used both financial and mobile data to track Cole’s movements tied to the crimes.

The FBI used detailed financial tracking to identify and apprehend the January 6 pipe bomb suspect. Authorities monitored credit card and bank account transactions to connect the suspect, Brian Cole Jr., to components allegedly used in the attack.

According to the criminal complaint, agents traced purchases of bomb-making materials over an extended period, including both before and after the 2020 election. Much of the evidence hinges on transactions at retail stores in northern Virginia.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
