  • New York Knicks championship stars electrify WWE event with surprise in-ring appearances
  • NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson backs Roman Reigns while Karl-Anthony Towns delivers devastating chokeslam
  • Madison Square Garden crowd erupts as hometown heroes defend WWE favorites in no-holds-barred spectacle

WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden turned into a celebration of championship glory as New York Knicks stars took over the ring during their 2025-26 title run. The crossover between basketball royalty and wrestling entertainment delivered exactly what fans crave — authentic hometown pride and unscripted energy.

Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns provided fierce backup for fan-favorite Danhausen in a no disqualification match against JD McDonagh. After Danhausen “cursed” his opponents, he commanded Towns to unleash his worst.

The 7-footer didn’t disappoint. Towns proceeded to chokeslam McDonagh before launching Mysterio through a table as the raucous New York City crowd went absolutely wild.

Towns wasn’t the only Knicks champion to make his presence felt in the squared circle. NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson stood in Roman Reigns’ corner as the world heavyweight champion came out to close the show.

Brunson received a tremendous ovation from the packed arena. He was presented with a custom Knicks World Heavyweight Championship — a fitting tribute to the team’s historic season.

Then Seth Rollins’ music hit. But instead of Reigns’ SummerSlam challenger emerging, Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton stormed out from backstage wielding a chair.

The distraction allowed Rollins to jump into the ring and attack Reigns. As Rollins prepared to hit Reigns with a Stomp onto the chair, Brunson stepped between them. Fans chanted “MVP” as the show went off the air.

Brunson is a lifelong WWE fan who previously revealed that he and a trainer “acknowledge” Reigns before games. He had already appeared in the ring during a previous segment with Haliburton, showing his genuine passion for the sport.

The Knicks were woven throughout the event, providing hometown backup to WWE favorites and delivering the kind of authentic crossover moment that reminds us why sports and entertainment thrive when they celebrate local champions. When New York wins, New York shows up — and Madison Square Garden proved once again why it’s the world’s most famous arena.

Americans deserve better entertainment that celebrates champions, not lectures from woke celebrities.
