Texas Leads Multi-State Election Security Effort
Liberty Check
Texas has partnered with nine states to enhance election integrity by sharing voter registration data through formal agreements. Secretary of State Jane Nelson emphasized that these measures are designed to prevent duplicate voter registrations and reinforce election security.
- Memorandums of understanding with Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia will help compare voter records to detect fraud.
- States will exchange registration data under strict confidentiality and cybersecurity guidelines, flagging potential fraud or duplicate registrations for investigation.
- Texas aims to expand this model, further securing elections and highlighting a commitment to transparency and citizen-only voting.
Secretary Nelson stated, “Texans expect fair and transparent elections. These agreements provide an effective framework for safeguarding our voter rolls, and we look forward to expanding this initiative with other states in the near future.”
This initiative follows the introduction of a grant program supporting county-level election security upgrades and recent referrals of potential noncitizens for investigation. Texas continues efforts to ensure only eligible citizens can vote, reflecting constitutional principles of fair representation.
