Trump Reaffirms Columbus Day Amid Liberal Pushback

Liberty Check

  • Trump’s order restores focus on Columbus Day at the national level.
  • Italian and Italian-American leaders praise the move as a celebration of shared heritage.
  • Liberal organizations and some academics criticize the restoration, claiming it ignores indigenous history and controversy.

President Trump has restored Columbus Day as a federal holiday, energizing supporters of America’s founding story and sparking pride among Italian Americans and leaders like Giorgia Meloni.

Meanwhile, liberal politicians and activist groups are pushing back, preferring to replace the day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day, especially in left-leaning cities and states.

While the federal designation remains Columbus Day, some city governments, such as Washington, D.C., continue to recognize the alternate holiday, revealing ongoing cultural and political divisions.

Trump’s proclamation denounces these efforts, asserting that attempts to erase history threaten American heritage and undermine patriotism.

Stay alert to the ways progressive agendas attempt to alter American traditions and challenge the foundational principles of our nation.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.

Columbus Day is a Day for national celebration it celebrates discovery and settlement with Western Civilization. The idea of celebrating indigenous people day is crazy. Who in their right mind would celebrate “National Losers Day.” Indigenous people lost a continent to better technology and a wave of settlement with Western Civilization.
