Liberty Check

  • Jaan Shah Safi, an Afghan national admitted under Operation Allies Welcome, was arrested in Virginia for allegedly supporting ISIS-K.
  • He attempted to secure Temporary Protected Status and is accused of arming his father, a militia commander in Afghanistan.
  • The arrest intensifies scrutiny of vetting procedures after other attacks linked to Afghan evacuees.

Federal officials apprehended Jaan Shah Safi, an Afghan national, in Virginia for allegedly lending support to ISIS-K.

Safi, admitted under the Biden-era Operation Allies Welcome, is the third Afghan evacuee accused of terrorism-related activity this week.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem highlighted concerns over the Biden administration’s policy, stating,

“Today, our heroic ICE officers arrested Jaan Shah Safi, a terrorist who provided material support to ISIS-K.”

Noem further criticized,

“The Biden administration brought this terrorist into the U.S. under the disastrous Operation Allies Welcome program.”

This latest arrest raises urgent questions about the government’s duty to safeguard American citizens and enforce robust vetting for all entrants.

Stand up for stronger, constitutionally sound immigration policies.
