The Department of Veterans Affairs is undergoing aggressive reforms, focusing on service, efficiency, and constitutional accountability.
Under Secretary Doug Collins, the VA is reversing course from previous policies, putting veterans back at the forefront and cutting through entrenched bureaucracy.
- Claims backlog reduced by over 49% since January 2025, reversing a 24% increase under the Biden administration.
- Twenty new clinics have opened nationwide, with 1.4 million appointments now outside of standard hours for real flexibility.
- The VA ended costly DEI initiatives, slashed union contracts, cut 30,000 unnecessary jobs, and invested $800 million in infrastructure using money saved by reform.
Collins highlighted the restoration of a service-first approach at the VA.
“It is simply that the veteran comes first at the VA.”
Major reforms have made it easier for survivors to claim benefits, while the VA advanced deployment of its modern electronic records system.
The agency identified and recovered $106 million in duplicate billing, and prioritized care by phasing out gender dysphoria treatments and restoring practical spending priorities.
In fiscal year 2025, the VA permanently housed nearly 52,000 homeless veterans, the highest figure since 2019, through focused outreach and programs.
