Cuba’s Electrical Meltdown Leaves Island in Darkness as Crisis Deepens

Liberty Check

  • The failed socialist system in Cuba continues to prove incapable of delivering basic services like electricity to its people.
  • American citizens are directly impacted as the U.S. Embassy warns of widespread blackouts, fuel shortages, and communication failures.
  • Decades of centralized control and government mismanagement have created a national security threat just 90 miles from Florida.

Cuba suffered another total power failure on Friday, plunging the entire island into darkness. The U.S. Embassy in Havana issued a direct warning to American citizens, confirming the collapse of the island’s electrical grid.

The embassy stated the failure was due to the “collapse of Cuba’s electrical grid.” Cuban regime media admitted the cause is still under investigation and offered no timeline for restoration.

“All U.S. citizens in Cuba or planning to travel to Cuba should be aware and plan accordingly. There are reports of cellphone and internet outages,” the embassy added.

The embassy noted that Cuba’s electrical grid is “increasingly unstable,” resulting in “multiple” nationwide blackouts in recent months. Scheduled power cuts now occur daily, with unscheduled outages persisting across the country.

“The electrical system remains vulnerable, and additional regular outages have been occurring more frequently and for longer periods,” the embassy warned.

The power system has been crippled by fuel shortages, crumbling infrastructure, and years of economic mismanagement under the communist regime. Rolling blackouts have become a daily reality for millions of Cubans.

Friday’s outage marks the seventh nationwide blackout this year, following a similar collapse just last month. The pattern demonstrates the regime’s inability to maintain even basic infrastructure.

Americans deserve better.
