Do You Support Term Limits For Members Of Congress?

Here’s the Scoop

An impassioned discussion over term limits in Congress has kicked off in the immediate aftermath of Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s death.

After news that Feinstein, 90, had passed away, #TermLimits trended on social media. In droves, commenters called for term limits, given the signs that the politician was not well during the last few months of her service.

On September 1, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley emphatically stated: “Right now the Senate is the most privileged nursing home in the country.”

I believe most of the people that we elect to congress are good an honorable and wanting to serve. However I also believe once they get there, money and power have a great influence. Term limits would be a great dissuade knowing they would only be able to serve 2 terms, go home and allow another with honorable intentions to serve. I also have little hope of this happening. Congress critters will not willingly vote themselves out of a job.

Age is not a factor. There should be mental and fitness tests annualy. Those in Senate should only have 2 terms. House should be 6 terms an gone. There should be no continuing salary after they retire. Let them get by with Social Security like everyone else. All in government should be required to take physical and mental fitness tests. Age is not always a factor. Presidents especially need to demonstrate mental and physical fitness. If not fit an official should be subject to mandatory immediate removal.

Yes we need term limits! The baton needs to be passed on to others with new, fresh ideas and who are responsible to the American people! Should be reasonable, sensible, salaried patriots and not end up becoming million and billionaires! The government is not a retirement home!

Term limits- unless we want to have AOC, The Squad etc for ‘installed’ 30+yrs (combined- no 10yrs congress/house then 12 yrs Senate) and age limits (70?) with a mandatory yrly. Cognitive test, and on demand if needed. If they refuse OUT! Right now we have McConnell, Schumer, Nadler, Waters, Pelosi etc. in til THEY decide to retire or die (like Feinstein did- She should have been out yrs ago!)

Seems like the longer they’re in office the more power-hungry they become. Out out out should be the law of the land when they become that way. No suffering it out (for the citizens) till the next election. ‘The people’ should be able to call for a special election at any time to remove a congression person who can’t/won’t work for the states as they were hired to do. They were not hired to vote their conscience. They were hired to be representatives of the majority of voters in their stated. I get so tired of contacting my own senators expressing myself and my wishes regarding a vote for things, particularly to ask that they not approve Biden’s picks for certain positions (thanks NC Senators who ignored your constituents recently and voted for your own selves) only to have turn around and vote however they damn well please. They seem to forget that we put their behinds in office and we can surely take them right back out. I’m looking forward to the day I can give it the good old college try.

The constitution laws has been broken so many time by these careers politicians. The founding father didn’t have politicians being forever job! No politicians should be allowed more than 8 years! Since a president can only serve 2 terms. That all they deserve! Go back into the real world and get a job! There should be NO LIFETIME Salary or pension. Since so many fools votes on laws that doesn’t help American people! Lately ALL HAVE SHOW THEIR HATE FOR AMERICA!
