Government Shutdown Sparks Air Controller Shortage

Liberty Check

  • More than 20 reported incidents of controller shortages Saturday, per Secretary Duffy.
  • Over 5,300 flight delays occurred Saturday, with shortages at major airports like Chicago and Newark.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration is 3,500 controllers below target staffing, further strained by earned unpaid overtime.

The ongoing federal government shutdown is causing acute air traffic controller shortages at U.S. airports, creating widespread travel disruptions.

Constitutional conservatives recognize this as a clear example of how government gridlock and overreach impact real Americans, while essential workers go unpaid.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced there were 22 air traffic control staffing “triggers” on Saturday, marking one of the highest points of shortage since the start of the shutdown on October 1.

Washington dysfunction is leaving everyday Americans to bear the cost, threatening both air travel efficiency and the paychecks of critical federal workers. Demand that Congress put constitutional responsibility above party politics and prioritize the rights and security of the American traveler.

It’s time to push back.

Air Traffic Controllers should shut down all air traffic until the Democrats open up the government. No pay no work. Let Congress walk to work.
