Twin Cities SNAP Stores Face Raids in Fraud Crackdown
Liberty Check
- Operation Cold SNAP targeted retailers accused of trafficking SNAP benefits.
- Twenty locations received administrative charging letters for alleged program violations.
- Federal investigators are referring evidence for possible criminal prosecution.
Federal agents descended on the Twin Cities this week to execute criminal search warrants at multiple retail locations suspected of trafficking SNAP benefits. The coordinated effort, dubbed Operation Cold SNAP, targeted retailers accused of exchanging taxpayer-funded benefits for cash or ineligible items.
Authorities served administrative charging letters to twenty separate retailers who allegedly exploited the system for personal profit. These stores face potential removal from the program and federal prosecution as investigators seize evidence of widespread financial abuse.
USDA Inspector General John Walk emphasized that these fraudulent retailers dishonor the charity of American taxpayers who fund these assistance programs. He noted that the investigation aims to protect resources from those who reprehensibly exploit the system to enrich themselves.
“Fraudulent SNAP retailers steal from victims that include children who rely on federal nutrition assistance and dishonor the charity of American taxpayers who fund the assistance.”
Protecting the integrity of public funds is essential to preventing the expansion of government waste and corruption. When bureaucracy fails to police itself, the burden of these criminal schemes falls directly onto the shoulders of hardworking citizens.
The Constitution must be defended.
