Massachusetts Schools Face New Antisemitism Compliance Measures

A Massachusetts school district has entered a voluntary settlement with the Justice Department following a series of disturbing antisemitic incidents involving students.

The investigation found a pattern of harassment between 2023 and 2025, including the use of derogatory slurs and the drawing of swastikas.

  • The Concord-Carlisle School District must revise its policies to ensure prompt responses to religious harassment.
  • A district-level employee will oversee compliance and help protect complainants from retaliation.
  • Staff and students will receive mandatory training to help prevent future discrimination and hostility.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon said the government will not tolerate a hostile environment for Jewish students at any level of education.

“School districts, like colleges and universities, must take prompt and effective action to address antisemitic harassment when it creates a hostile environment for Jewish students and must keep taking action until Jewish students are once again safe and welcome at their school.”

The settlement includes oversight mechanisms that will have the Department of Justice monitor the district’s progress and reporting procedures.

Ensuring public institutions remain neutral and safe spaces for all students is essential to maintaining an orderly society.

Government overreach is often a concern, yet enforcing existing civil rights laws remains a core function of the Justice Department.

This resolution seeks to restore constitutional protections for those targeted by hate in their own school hallways.

The Constitution must be defended.
