  • Conservative senators demand domestic lithium investment to break China’s stranglehold on critical military resources
  • Massive untapped lithium deposit stretches across southern United States while we remain dependent on foreign adversaries
  • National security and economic independence hang in the balance as senators push Department of War to act

Republican Senators Tom Cotton, John Boozman, and Ted Cruz are leading a critical push to secure America’s energy and military independence by demanding investment in domestic lithium supply chains.

The senators have sent a formal letter to the Department of War calling for immediate action on a massive, untapped lithium deposit that stretches across the southern United States. This strategic move aims to break America’s dangerous reliance on foreign nations — particularly China — for critical minerals essential to national defense and modern technology.

Lithium has become increasingly vital for everything from military equipment and communications systems to electric vehicle batteries and energy storage. Yet America continues to depend on foreign adversaries for this critical resource, despite having substantial deposits right here on American soil.

The southern U.S. lithium deposit represents a game-changing opportunity for American energy independence and national security. Developing these domestic resources would create thousands of American jobs, strengthen our military supply chains, and reduce our strategic vulnerability to hostile foreign powers.

Cotton, Boozman, and Cruz are pushing the Department of War to recognize lithium as the strategic military asset it is and invest accordingly. Their letter emphasizes that failing to develop domestic lithium capacity leaves America dangerously exposed to supply chain disruptions and foreign manipulation.

China currently dominates global lithium processing and has used its market position to gain strategic leverage over the United States and our allies. Developing American lithium resources would directly counter this threat and restore American control over critical supply chains.

The senators’ initiative aligns with broader conservative efforts to rebuild American manufacturing, strengthen national security, and reduce dependence on nations that don’t share our values or interests.

The Constitution must be defended.
