A Democratic House candidate in New Jersey backed by radical Squad member Ilhan Omar has been exposed for his work with an organization linked to Al-Qaida, raising serious questions about the judgment of both the candidate and his high-profile endorser.

Adam Hamawy, running for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd District, worked for the Benevolence International Foundation (BIF) in the 1990s, a nonprofit that was later investigated and shut down due to its connections to international terrorism. Hamawy confirmed in a 1996 interview that he distributed humanitarian supplies in Bosnia for the organization in 1994.

The Benevolence International Foundation was eventually designated as a terrorist organization after federal investigations revealed its ties to Al-Qaida and other extremist groups. The nonprofit was shut down following extensive international scrutiny into its financing of terrorist activities.

Despite this troubling history, Hamawy has secured the endorsement of Rep. Ilhan Omar, one of the most controversial members of Congress known for her inflammatory anti-Israel statements and support for radical causes. Omar’s backing of a candidate with documented ties to a terror-linked organization fits a disturbing pattern of the Squad promoting individuals with extremist connections.

The revelation comes at a time when Democrats claim to be champions of national security while simultaneously supporting candidates whose backgrounds raise serious red flags. Hamawy’s campaign has not adequately addressed why he chose to work with an organization that would later be exposed as a front for terrorism financing.

New Jersey voters deserve to know the full extent of Hamawy’s involvement with BIF and what, if any, knowledge he had of the organization’s true activities. The fact that a sitting member of Congress is endorsing him despite these revelations speaks volumes about the priorities of today’s radical Democratic Party.

This isn’t just about one candidate’s questionable past—it’s about a broader pattern of the far-left wing of the Democratic Party normalizing extremism and dismissing legitimate concerns about national security. When Squad members endorse candidates with terror-linked backgrounds, it sends a dangerous message about what the Democratic Party now considers acceptable.
