Campus Conservatives Face Grappling with Escalating Threats and Censorship Risks

Liberty Check

  • Violent vandalism glorifying assassination directly threatens First Amendment free speech rights on public campuses.
  • Private platforms like Eventbrite censor conservative events as “hate speech,” enabling suppression of constitutional advocacy.
  • Campus pattern of rhetoric urging murder of ICE agents reveals unchecked leftist aggression against patriotic Americans.

Posters for a Young Americans for Freedom event at UCSD titled “Keep Men Out of Women’s Sports” were vandalized with graphic images of Charlie Kirk’s assassination captioned “had it coming,” alongside messages telling conservatives to kill themselves and a Hitler suicide image urging fascists to follow their leader.

Eventbrite removed the event featuring swimmer Paula Scanlan from circulation, labeling it “hate speech,” despite a campus history of graffiti calling to “kill all ICE agents.”

“We have been dealing with consistent teardown of our flyers, but these stickers were new,” said Kai Peters, chairman of UCSD’s YAF chapter.

“I think the attitude was pretty tense, we’ve taken a lot of verbal abuse from people considering our stance on this issue,” Peters continued.

“We believe that such rhetoric is psychotic, and it really speaks to where some students are at right now.”

Constitutional conservatives must expose this intolerance and demand protection for all viewpoints before violence escalates further.

It’s time to push back.
