Radical Florida Repeat Offender Nabbed Again for Rum and Cocaine DUI

A 76-year-old Florida man was pulled over on U.S. Highway 27 after a deputy spotted him swerving. The driver admitted his license had been suspended for a prior DUI and that he had been drinking rum during the stop.

The deputy immediately recognized the man from an arrest just four months earlier. During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a small orange container holding cocaine, prompting the driver to confess he had snorted a line only ten minutes before being stopped.

Breath tests showed blood-alcohol levels of .094 and .095, exceeding Florida’s legal limit. Field sobriety tests further confirmed impairment, leading to the man’s arrest on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges including fourth-offense DUI, cocaine possession, and driving with a suspended license.

“While we appreciate Charles Ducking’s cooperation during the traffic stop, the fact of the matter is, he is lucky he hasn’t yet killed someone or himself while driving drunk and high on drugs,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement.

“He has tempted fate too many times, and he needs to make some serious changes in his life before it’s too late,” Judd continued. “I am proud of my deputies for their proactive patrolling to find impaired drivers and get them off the road.”
