Two people were shot and killed inside a vehicle on the University of Chicago campus on Thursday in what authorities are describing as a horrific double homicide. The victims — a 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — were discovered inside a vehicle on the 5900 block of South Ellis near Midway Plaisance Ice Skating Rink and Harper Quad at around 5:35 p.m., according to police.

Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to the head, raising questions about whether this was a targeted execution-style attack. The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the campus community and renewed concerns about public safety in Chicago.

The man and woman were transported to the university hospital in critical condition, but were later pronounced dead despite emergency efforts.
