A dramatic pursuit through Missouri’s Stone County ended with a suspect diving headfirst off a bridge into Table Rock Lake in a desperate attempt to evade arrest. Video footage captured the stunning moment 26-year-old Gavin Thor Lundgren launched himself over the edge after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.

The Stone County Sheriff’s Office released video showing Lundgren sprinting across a two-lane bridge before taking the plunge into the waters below during the early morning hours of July 18. The suspect had been spotted driving nearly 75 mph in a 45-mph zone around 1:50 a.m., prompting deputies to attempt a traffic stop.

“This was definitely a first and luckily he survived the fall,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Instead of complying with law enforcement, Lundgren led officers on a pursuit before abandoning his still-moving 2004 Chevrolet Malibu and making the dramatic dive. What followed was a violent struggle that left three deputies injured.

“He resisted arrest and deputies suffered minor injuries taking him into custody,” authorities confirmed.

According to investigators, Lundgren headbutted two deputies during the altercation. The officers sustained facial bruising, cuts to their hands, elbows and forearms, and various abrasions while working to subdue the combative suspect.

Lundgren now faces serious charges including three counts of third-degree assault on a special victim, resisting arrest for a felony, resisting arrest by fleeing, and careless driving. He is being held in the Stone County Jail without bond.

The incident highlights the daily dangers faced by law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect communities. What began as a routine traffic stop for speeding escalated into a dangerous pursuit and violent confrontation that injured multiple deputies.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
