New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani launched a fresh assault on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday, accusing the Jewish leader of being the “architect of horrific genocide against Palestinians.”

The remarks came hours after Netanyahu released a video message slamming Mamdani for supporting Hamas and stirring unrest against Jewish New Yorkers.

“We all know that what the prime minister has said in that video is not true,” Mamdani told reporters. “What we do know to actually be the truth when it comes to the prime minister is that he is the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

“And as the prime minister, he is the architect of horrific genocide against Palestinians,” Mamdani asserted. “And just a few days ago, his military killed an 11-year-old boy in what is deemed to be a safe zone in Gaza. So that is what I have to say to his video.”

Netanyahu responded directly in a video posted to X, saying, “Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews.”

“I’m coming to the U.N. I am going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I’m going to tell you the truth about you,” the prime minister added.

The bitter exchange comes days before Netanyahu is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York, a city now led by a mayor who has repeatedly branded the Israeli leader a war criminal and declared him “not welcome.”

Mamdani earlier explored whether the city could enforce the ICC arrest warrant against Netanyahu, though he later conceded New York cannot unilaterally carry out the order.

While claiming he has not encouraged protests, Mamdani has defended demonstrators’ right to confront Netanyahu during the visit, calling protest “one of the bedrocks of our city.”

After meeting with President Trump on Monday, Mamdani confirmed the discussion stayed on local issues and avoided the Netanyahu dispute.

The Constitution must be defended.
