Chris Martin, the band’s frontman, recently addressed concertgoers with a playful warning at their show in Madison, Wisconsin, following the viral Kiss Cam incident involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
During the performance at Camp Randall Stadium, Martin, 48, engaged the crowd with a lighthearted announcement. “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd,” he said, as cheers and laughter erupted. “We’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen,” he added with a grin, advising attendees to touch up their makeup if needed.
Interestingly, a fan later noted on social media platform X that no couples were shown on the jumbotron that night. This concert marked Coldplay’s first appearance since the infamous Kiss Cam episode at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 16.
During that show, Byron was caught on camera with his arms around Kristin Cabot, his company’s HR chief. The awkward moment unfolded as the woman turned away and Byron ducked out of view, prompting Martin to quip, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
In the aftermath, Astronomer released a statement emphasizing its commitment to conduct and accountability, announcing a formal investigation. Byron was placed on leave, and an interim CEO was appointed. By Saturday, Byron had resigned, with the Board of Directors accepting his resignation and initiating a search for a new CEO.
Fox News Digital confirmed that Cabot finalized her divorce in 2022, while Byron’s marital status remains unchanged, suggesting he is still married.
The video of the incident, posted by TikTok user Grace Springer, quickly became a hot topic. “I had no idea who the couple was,” Springer admitted, acknowledging the unintended consequences of her post. “A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but play stupid games … win stupid prizes.”
Springer also expressed hope that the individuals involved can find healing, suggesting her video might have been a “blessing in disguise.”
This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of public life and the consequences that can follow when personal moments are thrust into the spotlight.
