  • Ritchson’s career skyrocketed with his role as Jack Reacher on Amazon Prime’s hit series

Alan Ritchson and his wife Catherine have decided to end their marriage after two decades together. The 43-year-old actor, best known for his role in Amazon Prime’s “Reacher,” made the announcement via a joint Instagram post on Saturday.

“We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world,” they wrote. “Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us or the love and respect we will always share.”

The couple emphasized their commitment to moving forward with “friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be.” They also requested privacy during this difficult transition, particularly for the sake of their three sons.

“Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in,” they added. “We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion.”

According to court documents, Ritchson filed for divorce in December. The couple reconciled in March before ultimately announcing their separation in September.

Ritchson and Catherine first met as teenagers in high school but broke up after dating for some time. They reconnected during college and tied the knot in May 2006. Throughout their marriage, they welcomed three sons: Calem, Edan, and Amory.

The actor’s career has been on an upward trajectory for years. His first significant role came in the hit TV show “Smallville,” followed by appearances in “Blue Mountain State,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” and “Titans.”

His career-defining moment arrived in 2022 when he landed the title role in Amazon Prime’s “Reacher,” a show that has resonated with audiences across demographics. In a January 2024 interview, Ritchson discussed how his own children have embraced the show, though he’s selective about what scenes they watch.

“They loved it, man. For me, it’s not ‘Dad TV’, it’s ‘family TV’. I walk down the street and little ladies on their walkers are like ‘Reacher… Reacher…'”

The estranged couple concluded their statement by thanking followers for “supporting us as we continue to make the health and happiness of our family a priority.”

Americans deserve better.
