Fired CNN Host Makes STUNNING Malcolm X Comparison After Network Exit

  • Former CNN anchor compares himself to civil rights icon Malcolm X after corporate media departure
  • Claims leaving major network freed him to speak without corporate constraints
  • Statement reveals deep disconnect between privileged media elite and genuine American struggles

A former CNN anchor made a jaw-dropping comparison during a recent podcast appearance, claiming he now feels the “spirit of Malcolm X” after his departure from the corporate news network.

Don Lemon, who was let go by CNN in 2023, appeared on The Bakari Sellers Show Thursday where he declared that leaving corporate media has supposedly freed him to say whatever he wants. The comparison to one of America’s most controversial civil rights figures raised eyebrows across the political spectrum.

The statement reveals a stunning level of self-importance from someone who spent years as a highly paid talking head on cable news. While Malcolm X faced genuine persecution and risked his life for his beliefs, Lemon enjoyed the cushy confines of a multimillion-dollar contract in air-conditioned studios.

Lemon’s departure from CNN came after a series of controversial on-air moments and reportedly strained relationships with network management. His attempt to rebrand himself as some kind of liberated truth-teller rings hollow to many Americans who watched him toe the corporate line for years.

The comparison underscores a broader problem with elite media personalities who view themselves as heroic figures rather than what they actually are: well-compensated entertainers who read from teleprompters. Malcolm X challenged power structures at great personal risk. Lemon challenged his ratings.

Since leaving CNN, Lemon has attempted to launch independent media ventures with mixed results. His invocation of Malcolm X’s name appears to be part of an effort to reposition himself as an unfiltered voice speaking truth to power, despite spending his career as part of the very establishment he now claims to critique.

The irony is that Lemon had every opportunity to speak freely while at CNN. The network gave him a prime-time platform for years. If he felt constrained, it was by his own willingness to conform to corporate demands in exchange for a hefty paycheck.

Americans deserve better than self-aggrandizing comparisons from failed media personalities.
