The Los Angeles Rams will enter their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles without a key defensive presence. Aaron Donald, who returned from retirement to bolster the defensive line, will sit out Sunday’s contest.

Head coach Sean McVay cited back soreness as the reason for Donald’s absence. McVay explained that the decision stems from concerns over the player’s physical condition following a recent game.

“I think our job as coaches is [to] put our players in positions to have successful outcomes,” McVay said.

McVay emphasized that protecting players from pushing through pain is part of a coach’s duty. The decision reflects a broader commitment to player welfare over immediate performance demands.

“… He’s working as hard as he can to get himself feeling as good as possible. And we’re hopeful and optimistic that good days are ahead.”

On offense, the Rams expect wide receiver Puka Nacua to return after recovering from a hip injury. Nacua practiced this week and showed positive signs during physical drills.

Los Angeles enters the game at 1-2 after a disappointing start to the season. The team continues to adjust its roster amid ongoing injury challenges.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
